Racenight for Cliona's Foundation

A Night at the Races awaits Sakurai customers and suppliers who take up an invitation to join the Hounslow team in their bid to raise money for Cliona's Foundation which provides financial assistance for critically ill children and their families.

Sakurai's David Ryan has written to past and present customers to invite them to the charity night at Windsor Races, with the twin aims of a great evening's entertainment along with an opportunity to raise much needed funds for Cliona's Foundation. Sakurai has already received the support of co-sponsors Natgraph, Baldwin, and Close Asset.

Commented David: "Brendan Ring and his wife Terry run a very successful printing company called Cube Printing in County Limerick in Southern Ireland. As well as being one of Sakurai's best customers, Brendan and Terry have become very good personal friends of mine over the last ten years. In 2006 Brendan and Terry tragically lost their beautiful daughter Cliona to an inoperable brain tumour at the tender age of 15. As brave Cliona had battled the condition for many years the Rings had to spend a huge amount of time in hospitals, on many occasions staying overnight for lengthy periods.

"Throughout the course of these visits they got to witness at first hand the awful financial hardship some families had to endure on top of having a terminally ill child. Can you imagine not being able to visit your own child in such circumstances due to lack of finances for travel or accommodation?

"Following Cliona's very sad demise Brendan and Terry were determined to do something to help these families, and created a trust in Cliona's name. Up to the end of last year they had raised €501,000 and in so doing helped 181 hard-pressed families who had met the Trust's criteria for help.

"I decided to make a personal appeal for financial help to the 'Sakurai Family' of end-users in the UK and Ireland, and from our suppliers in the UK. In return for any help offered, and to show our appreciation, we have invited those making donations to be our guests to a night out at Windsor Races. It promises to be a fantastic night with a private suite and all the trimmings of their corporate entertainment package."

I would also like to apologise to anyone who may want to get involved, and join us, but has not received a letter – you are more than welcome."
